A night in the Abbey Theatre to remember! – 1962

I met Pat at St Stephen’s Green our usual meeting point close by my job. We went for dinner at the Metropol and the first surprise of the night was Pat getting down on one knee to propose to me. Before proposing Pat requested a love song by Peggy Dell to make the moment special. After I had gladly accepted his proposal he whispered that there was one more surprise – he was taking me to the Abbey Theatre! I was so thrilled not only to marry my soul mate but to experience an amazing night in the Abbey. Harry Brogan was playing Jemmy Hope in A Light in the Sky. I will always associate the Abbey Theatre with one of the happiest moments in my life. Thank you for sharing our moment.
